Léonie Schäfer is a Scientific Officer at the EU Commission, DG Information Society & Media, seconded as National Expert by the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft. She coordinates EU projects with focus on Serious Games, Collaborative Working Environments and Multimodal Interfaces.
Before joining the EU Commission Léonie was a researcher at Fraunhofer FIT in St. Augustin, Germany. Her research interests centre on Digital Storytelling, Pervasive and Serious Games, Collaborative Virtual Environments, and Entertainment Computing.
Léonie was co-organiser of several workshops at international conferences (ACM CSCW’02, IEEE VR2000 and VR2005, ACM CVE’02, M&C’05 and ECSCW’05). She is a member of a number of conference and program committees, author of several scientific publications and she was guest editor twice for a Special Issue of the journal Virtual Reality (Springer, UK).
Léonie graduated and received her PhD in Computer Science from the Berlin University of Technology.
